    A displaced Embera community.
    Caqueta, Colombia
    This small Embera Katio community are inland refugees.
    They had to leave their homes in the Northwest of Colombia and had to find another, more peaceful place for them to live.
    They found some land they could use at the border of a national park in the Caqueta, where they can grow plantains, corn and pineapple.
    Also they can live their until now without threats of armed forces,
    they've lost social contact and structures.
    Neighboring indigenous tribes don't share the same language or medical plants and spirits.

    Due the armed conflict this Embera community from the Chocó had to leave their homeland. The government gave them some land 100s of miles away from their home.

    The river is also the place they go when they try to commit suicide.
    The Emberas are the ethnic with the highest suiced rate in Colombia.

    The children of the community don't have much contact with other children outside their community. If the water level of the river is safe and it can be crossed, it's about 2 hours walking to the next small village.
